It seems simple ideas really can be the best ones as duo Declan Fahy (Meath) and Paul Cosgrave (Limerick) sign a major deal with a multi billion dollar American company who produce en vogue plastic red cups.
The red cups (pictured right) have become a stable feature of
the American party scene and have product placement in Desperate Housewives, The Social Network and featured in videos for the Kings of Leon and the Black Eye Peas.
After searching for the red cups to bring to their own party, they were surprised to find no such thing on the Irish market. This brought them to Solo, the world’s biggest manufacturer of red party cups.
The deal, struck between Solo, an Illinois based Manufacturing Company and Red Cups involves selling an extended product line of twelve additional disposal partyware items. The iconic Red Cup sells over 600million units a year in the U.S.
Red Cups are now available in Tesco’s, Dunnes Stores, O’Briens Wines, O’Donovans Off-Licences and recently obtained listings for the Musgrave Group.
Paul Cosgrave said; “Over the past year and a half we have worked most evenings and the majority of our weekends repacking, delivering orders, following up on leads, preparing presentations and managing the main accounts we had won”.
According to the pair, the initial investment was small as the first office was run from home while they worked full time jobs. They now want to develop the company and bring in new staff to help them create success in the Irish and UK markets.
