Northern Ireland is Asked to Buy Local Today

‘Enterprise Zones should be designated across Northern Ireland to develop independent retail in the north’s region’- That was the view of the Northern Ireland Retail Trade Association who have called for a new pro-business programme for the government.

More than 100 business owners attended the reception at Stormont to show support to the independent retail sector and encourage people to only shop with local traders on the 4th of July.

Glyn Roberts, NIIRTA chief executive, called on the Executive to produce a multi-department Small Business Act to support these efforts and give more financial access.

Northern Irelands Finance Minister, Sammy Wilson said “We want to see a new partnership between multiple and independent retailers to invest in our town centres, offer real choice to the consumer and above all build up our private sector toward a sustainable economic recovery.”
