Employees Calling In Sick For Hot Weather

Peninsula Ireland, an employment law agency, has said that three quarters of employers believe that staff who called in sick last week, did it because of the hot weather.

Employers complained of a steep rise in the number of complaints from employers about employees ringing in sick during the recent heatwave.

It said its advice line took 1,809 calls since Wednesday about employees calling in sick. This was a 77% on the previous week.
